The need for bespoke, rapid turnaround IT services is no better demonstrated than in the military arena. For the past 4 years the team at Quadratek have worked with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and partners Fujitsu Siemens Computing and Fujitsu Services as a specialist in technical architecture, systems design and operational deployment.
Jonathon Cox, Associate Director at Quadratek Consulting, explains. "As part of the Synergy project, Fujitsu chose Quadratek Consulting to develop and design an operations management IT system to be deployed, at pace, into theatres of war. From our initial work in understanding what the customer wanted through to delivery, the system including all server and hardware deployment was delivered in 6 weeks across 9 sites in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, the system is live on 800 workstations across the world, ranging from 400 users in command centres, through to remote single PC's sited in rugged vehicles ."
Of course, working with clients in a widely dispersed, constantly changing, and hostile environment brings it's own challenges and as part of their ongoing work in this area, Quadratek provides:
- New variations of the platform, including development and installation, and a rapid deployment projects team working across the world.
- 24 x 7 support to the system, with a dedicated team based in the UK
Recently, and again with quick turnaround, Quadratek have completed work for NATO developing systems and process architecture based on the "Adobe Connect" application. This deployed system, allowing for advance reconnaissance teams to feed back reports and video over low bandwidth connections, was built to fit in the overhead locker of a commercial airline.
The skills that the Quadratek team demonstrate in theatres of war translate easily to both big businesses and SME's alike - from the development of software and infrastructure, hosting, hardware sourcing and the rapid deployment of any solution.
